I have a video recording device that records and names files as MOV001 etc and continues to count up.

I accidentally deleted a MOV004 a while back, then another one.

does the second one I deleted overwrite the first, and is there any way to recover the original. I haven't had much luck with data restore softwares, but perhaps I am not using the right one.

Solution
Deleting files does not cuase overwrites. writing new files, for any reason, does. Sadly the OS often overwrites without you even knowing about it, after all the file was deleted so that means the space was free to use...

First check the recycle bin and see if its in there.
if not run recovery software such as Recuva (its Free) and see if it can recovery it.

Thanks, I tried recuva. What I think is complicating the issue is that these are stored on a flash drive on the device. So I am trying to find the recorded video from two times ago.
