Recovering a file deleted over a year ago.

Any chance I would be able to recover some files I deleted a year+ ago. Files were relatively small word docs. Since deleting them, I only really used the laptop for surfing the internet and YouTube, however I have wiped the laptop. Surely, it couldn’t have overwritten the deleted files by now?

Run recuva, deep scan.
Chances are they are long gone, but you might* be able to get some back.
*very small might

You wiped the laptop as in a new format and Windows setup or factory reset? That drops the chances by a huge amount, pretty much to 0. If you wiped it as in you zeroed out the drive to prevent data recovery on it, then you have no chance outside of using a forensics lab to get the files.

Sorry, when I say wiped, I mean reset windows using the “remove everything” option.

It's not so much "deleted the files by now", but rather parts of it may have been (probably) overwritten.

Like if you send your car to the junkyard, and a year later, you want it back.
They give you back the engine, 1 door, and the back seat. The rest of it was "overwritten".
It's not a car (or Word doc) anymore.
