Recovering data over sata

I have a 500 gb wd green used as an external hard drive for backups, i have a new computer, and i want to transfer the files from the backup hdd to my new computer, but the external case for the hdd is no longer working - i tried to plug it in with sata, but it wont show up in my computer, - it shows up in disk manager, but i dont want to format the drive as i want to recover the data from it 🙁 help please,

was this a mybook? if so then there is a chance that your original enclosure hardware encrypts the data. Without working USB bridge like that your data is not going to be recovered
