Recovering PCIE X1 slot that is blocked by thick graphics card

Can a PCIE x1 port be relocated via a riser when a double-slot graphics card obscures it? I was wondering whether it would be possible to use an obstructed PCIE x1 slot by using a riser but I'm not sure whether there's enough space between the slot and the offending graphics card. Does anyone know for sure?

There are different types of PCI-e x1 risers (thin cables, 90 degrees, etc.).

Could you provide a picture of the motherboard with the GPU installed or provide your system specs.
