Recovery Manager Doesn't boot up

Ok great let me start the post whining on what happened, i have this netbook from Hp http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c01630402 (these are the specs)

The factory settings are so:
2 Partitions [Primary]
C:\ 300 Gb
D:\ 20Gb [Recovery Partition]

Here is my thought , If something happened to my OS(C drive) then i will be losing all data,soooo i shrunk C from within Disk Manager in Vista. after which this was the configuration

c:\ 100 Gb
d:\ 200 Gb [Also primary ..How come ??]
e:\ Recovery Drive

HP netbooks come with a Recovery Feature during Boot i.e Press F11 when booting to bring back PC to factory settings. All went well until ...

I Restarted my Laptop, all to find out that
1. It couldn't find the O S
2. F11 Recovery Didn't work.

So here is what i did? I used Acronis Disk Director bootable disk to have a look at Partitions and was shocked 😱

The Partitions i had created,had some how deleted the C:\ Drive or did something with it to Make it "UnAllocated" but recovery drive was InTact oops everything gone waste now..

Now here are a few questions:: Please answers them
I don't have any recovery disc's / Haven't made then also / Am not interested in Buying them also.

Is a "Primary Active" Partition bootable or a "Primary Partition" bootable ?

Is there any Bootable Utility that Can ReInstall the Vista BootLoader in the C:\Drive ?[because the acronis disk director install's the windows xp Boot loader when i make the partition active ]

Also, how can i view the files inside recovery partition? [it is a Single File of 10Gb in size, I can't use any archiving utility to also inspect it ]

Some Info: The recovery manager used to Boast a logo of SoftThings when it was working

You ask for an opinion, so here it is (but you won't like it):

You need to buy recovery disks from HP. It looks like you've somehow hosed your Vista installation, so HP Recovery Manager can't start.

As for the Primary Partition question, a hard disk can have up to 4 primary partitions. It will try to boot from the one that is marked "Active". Any primary partition may be bootable, using a boot manager.

You have left yourself with nowhere to go.
You can try merging the partitions back to one and pray it works or at least the recovery partition will function.

you can look into a program called partition table doctor. just google it see what people have done with it. the company also has a new one called partition recovery somthing these might help

I Resolved the problem by booting with a recovery disc [Vista] and setting the Recovery Drive as active and then booting from it
