Hi,

I was just wondering what the best Red/Black braided cables are? I know that BitFenix do some but i cant find them available buy in the UK.

Thanks,
Harry

Solution
Silverstone and Bitfenix kits are available from overclockers.co.uk
They also sell ones from Corsair and NZXT, these don't seem to come in red but are available in black.

Not the cheapest website, but for specialist kind of items like these they have a great selection.

Scan.co.uk stock some of these too.

Er, that's a bit dependant on your system.

Motherboards use a 24pin main power connector, the vast majority do at least, so you'll need one of those.
They also use a 4 or 8pin CPU power connector (sometimes known as an EPS connector).

Graphics cards vary dramatically, from needing no PCIe power connectors, to any configuration of 6pin or 8pin connectors. It's quite possible this will need two cables.

So im going to have an asus maximus vii hero, and gtx 780 ti. Im guessing theyll be the same as what you stated. Its just i dont want spare cables that wont even be seen, and until i get the parts i cant tell what braided cables to get:p

If you haven't bought any of this I'd possibly urge a build rethink. I'm assuming you are getting an 850W PSU to cover yourself for SLIing GTX780Tis, but there's much better PSUs to buy than the RM850. The Hero is pretty expensive too, relative to what it brings to the table.

To answer your actual question, the Maximus VII Hero uses an 8pin EPS connector and a 24pin power connector.
Just using overclockers and black coloured Bitfenix extensions as examples (obviously you can change these)-
24pin
8pin EPS
Not all GTX780Tis are identical, some will have two 8pin power connectors, but the standard reference configuration is for one 8pin and one 6pin PCIe power connector.
8pin
6pin
If you know which card you are getting already, it's pretty easy to figure out, but if you aren't 100% sure, you can always get a 6+2 PCIe lead which can serve as an 8pin or as a 6pin with the extra 2pins dangling. It's not super tidy though, and if you are buying expensive extensions it seems like a waste.

Thanks very much! Alas, i have already purchased my parts. However past discovering which parts i wanted, i was simply getting more expensive parts from that point for their looks, the rm series of psus are supposedly reliable and they do the job. Considering i wont be seeing it really i only care about the fact it is quiet and relatively cheap compared to the ax series of power supplies. I also chose the 780ti sc edition from evga over the one with acx cooling since i liked the look of it and it seemed the performance improvement for someone who is unlikely to overclock with the acx cooler pointless when i prefer the looks of another. I already have a pc rig that i build almost 4 years ago, with next to no idea what i was doing, only my dad to help me, and it is quite loud - noise isnt really an issue for me to be honest. I thank you again for all of your help everyone, however my build is not build purely on performance, more of a hybrid between that and the beauty of the build, the power supply seems like an area where yku can "pointlessly" overendulge and get less from it than if you were to spend that money on other parts. :)
