I just build my new pc and i have this problem, when i plug the second ram my pc won't start. When is booting i see a red cpu light and then it shuts down and boot again. The odd thing is that this morning when i booted with dual channel ram it started normally. Then i wanted to use xmp profile to set my rams to their normal speed because they were set on ~2100 mhz instead of 3000, so i restarted my pc to make the changes in bios menu. From that point i couldn't boot. I tried to remove one ram, and it worked. Also, i didn't try to use different channels , i used 2 and 4, because cpu's heatsink is blocking the 1st channel. Btw, i used the xmp profile on the one ram that im using right now and its working.

my specs are : AMD Ryzen 5 2600
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4-3000MHz
MSI B450 Tomahawk

EDIT: I forgot to mention that my cpu got 2 broken pins. -.-

I think that xmp profile 2 on this mobo is already set on 2933.

Yes i already set it on 2933. I just chose the profile that sets that speed and didn't change it to 3000. Btw when u said then add the 2nd stick u mean after i shut it down, right?

Memory modules purchased as Singles have no guarantee to be compatible if used in any configuration other than as a Single module. If you listed your memory part number that would identify what you are using.

Broken pins on CPU can also be the cause of memory slots not functioning.

It's a dual channel ram 2x4GB. That's what i got Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4-3000MHz (CMK8GX4M2C3000C16) .
How can i be sure that is a cpu problem ?

UPDATE : I placed my rams on 1st and 2nd slot and it worked. The problem is that it's working like a single channel ram of 8 GB and not like a dual channel. Should i try to fix the cpu ?
