Red Cross over ethernet icon

Hello,

So this morning i switched my pc on and the little ethernet icon had a small Red Cross on it. It says unidentified network, No internet access. The wifi it fine i can connect with my iPad/iPhone... My pc is running windows 8.1. Ive also checked the ethernet its fine and I've restarted the modem.

If anyone knows how to fix this it would be a pleasure,

That is odd, try a different ethernet cord. If needed, find what your ethernet chip is and update the drivers for it.

could be a windows update. Try a system restore to the nearest point before the problem

That is a little fast to restore, try installing drivers first.

Not factory restore! Just restore to previous day or major change using windows system restore

Ive already tried a restore it is not doing anythng... On network connections it says Network cable unplugged Realtek PCIe GBE family controller... and has a red cross.
