SPECS
Asus z97 Gryphon
i7 4790k
gtx 980 All drivers installed

I ran into some issues but I did it and got my Rig to run. Every-time I turn it on however I seem to get a completely random wait time until the signal actually hits my monitor and the monitor turns on. I figured out the problem, that being the red light near the PCI 16 lane on the board. I installed the drivers already and when the system completely turns on and is working, I can play games with no problem what so ever. And every-time I attempt a turn on and boot it ALWAYS turns on however, the wait times vary. When I boot into windows the red light fades away and never turns on while using the computer only before boot. This is annoying (but not a deal breaker). If the lights are off after the computer is on and I am given the full display then what in the world could the problem be when I turn it on? *NOTE: When I turn my computer I am greeted to an American megatrends telling me my CPU has an error (I believe the fan or something) However, I am able to press F1 and select the windows 8 boot every-time. Please assist me.

Solution
The red light next to the pci-e slot.
Is the board testing the hardware. In your case the graphics card.
Red means. And error with the gtx 980 card.

1. It may need to be checked that it is seated right in your Pci-e slot.
2. The card may be causing stress on the Pci-e slot when inserted, make sure it is parallel to the slot.
And that where you screw it to your case it has not dropped down slightly, if so undo the screw holding it.
Lift the card up and tighten the screw again.
3. You have a power related problem, check that the Pci-e 12v from the Psu are fitted right to the card.
4. Check that the eight pin 12v connector on the board is also fitted right.
5. Check what the wattage requirements needed to run a Gtx 980 card and the amp...

6. The check your PSU to see if it can output enough wattage and the amp rating of the 12v rails is enough.

I'll try both solutions out tomorrow. I'll look into the bios first then I'll give Shaun o's solutions a spin. The PSU should be fine the 12v rails looked fine in the bios. I have an antec edge 750w. I plugged both into the 12v 2 rails. Maybe the screw is a bit tight. Hmm... I heard another solution was to move the GPU to the other slot. I'll give it a shot. Nice to see you again smorizio!

Thank you, the both of you but it seems as if this board just doesn't want to work properly, under any circumstances. So I'm returning and getting another instead. Thanks for the help though. I really did try everything with this board.
