Red dot on xbox console

When I turn on my xbox the console light is green then turns red and cuts off, the power adapter light is a solid bright orange and never changes ? Is the problem more likely the console or power adapter ?

what console do you have? a slim or a normal?
how many leds do you see? anything else happening?
