Red lines and white blocks on black screen

I recently purchased a asus geforce gtx 970 and a corsair cx 600m power supply i have hooked up all the connectors correctly but when i start up i get red lines and then a black screen with white blocks on it and eventually a black screen

Some people on steam were having a similar issue, at least the white blocks. Have you tried changing the display resolution? It seemed to fix it for them. This may help as well: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2220044/white-lines-assorted-red-blue-blocks-screen.html
