Reduce or block other people in the house using up the internet bandwidth

Would somebody kindly help me Prioritize the bandwidth i get in the house. Im not really tech savvy, but i'm slowly learning. i would appreciate it so much if somebody could point me in the right direction. A few family members have come over to stay with us & their kids are just really annoying. i cannot seem to do anything or even open up a webpage without getting frustrated, they've taken over the internet downloading youtube videos and movies and series & just plainly streaming garbage. I have on countless times have told them to stop it, but theres just no respect. Im resorting to just blocking or finding a way to reduce their internet usage or bandwidth if use of correct term. Im using a Linksys E1200, and i have access to it, i typed in the IP address & i dont know what to do next, everythings gibberish.

My computer is currently using a wire connected directly to the modem, While their laptop is just using the wifi. How do i stop this from the computer im sitting at currently. How do i find their IP address and just remove them? or if thats possible, or how do i give them a smaller amount to use while i dont lag and run things just fine on my comp?

Any help would be appreciated gratefully.

Above link will show QoS details. That is the quality of service. Some of those settings can limit how much bandwidth will be sucked up.

I am not super good at the QoS settings but its a start

Set a password for internet access and setup guest account password with time limits on the account. Using the program that installs to you computer for the router should be able to do that easily.

Your router likely does not really have the ability to priorities traffic the way you need with factory firmware. Since you can not do fairly simple network things like finding the ip/mac of the offending machine loading a third party firmware would be too risky for you to attempt even though it does have the ability to restrict machines traffic better.

I would either change the wireless encryption password and not give them the new one or just go into the router and turn off the wireless radios.

I recommend downloading the manual and setting WiFi to WPA2 only and beeing ery careful with the Wifi password. Another way is to limit the WiFi access to pre-registered MAC addresses, but that is a lot of work for you.

Also, you could call your ISP and get more bandwidth, if they offer it.

I run 3 PC's, 2 laptops and 3 tablets. We game and steam all the time. I have 50mbps and never seem to have huge problems.

Also, if they are torrenting (downloading peer to peer files) you can request they limit their download speed so it wont max your download.

This is not the correct device. The QoS on the E1200 router is very different. Still it does not matter no isp will honor any form of packet marking and this is only for OUTBOUND traffic...ie upload. Most people are exceeding their download bandwidth which the ISP is in complete control over.

Im using a Linksys E1200 which runs by Cisco. Ive been looking into the wireless section which has Wireless security, If i change the password there, will they get shut off?, there is also Wireless MAC filter, It seems like it could do the trick, but i dont want to screw anything up. Im also currently reading what inerax posted in the first post. I also am seeing an 'Access Policy' Tab, with parental controls etc. Im not sure how this works or i might end up banning myself, im sorry for being so noobish.

Change the password and don't tell them is the easy solution. The other is a lot of effort that if they are smart can be simply bypassed.
