Burt's advice is absolutely correct. There are many online vendors selling
third party cartridges and some sell high quality bulk ink as well.
Alotofthings.com is one of them. They also have an eBay store and the prices
are better than from the web store. That's who I use and they are
excellent - nothing that measekite says about them (or most anything else)
should be believed. Refilling Canon BCI-3 or BCI-6 tanks involves nothing
more than capping the ink outlet, making an opening in the reservoir,
injecting bulk ink with a syringe and then resealing the opening. Some tanks
have rubber plugs on top for sealing and resealing the fill hole. Other
users make a small hole and then reseal it with a variety of methods - tape,
Plasti-Tac, hot melt glue, set screws, nylon screws, etc... I now use a
slightly different method which is making an opening on the upper side of
the reservoir and then resealing it with duct tape. The point is that there
are many ways of achieving the same end result and it's more a matter of
personal preference than anything else. Use a quality ink, i.e. MIS or
Formulabs and refilling will lower your printing costs so much that ink
consumption will become a non-issue for you.
