Okay. so i dont know wat information will be useful so im just gonna say everything in my head lol.

My friend.. a little computer illierate i must say, has a laptop that keeps freezing. It sounded like the whole problem was one of those.. my laptop is old and now broken type thing. so i decided the best thing to do wud be to just clear the whole thing off.

Its a toshiba laptop and i dont reeli want to be taking it apart .. and i shouldnt need to no?

First question.. can i clear the HDD via BIOS?

I thought about returning the whole machine to factory settings only it would still leave rraces, and when i hav doen this before it has not worked to the desired effect. Plus i dont want all thye crap that comes with it.

If reformatting is as simple as 123 then please stop here and answer my question lol. only i have a few problems.

The keyboard on all computers work when plugged in with no OS etc. so im asuming the laptop keyboard will. the thing i AM worried about is weather or not the touchpad will work. and.. not having the software that came with the laptop, i may be stuck with a USB mouse until i can get the drivers or software for it if i can get it at all. and who is to say the software that came with the laptop had the drivers anyway? people with their mod-proofing eh?

i also have to fix the keyboard but thats a look once cut 300 times job.

any input??

no offence but you sound a "computer illierate" too if you dont know where to find drivers.. if you got brand-x laptop wouldnt the first instinct be to go to the mfg website?

ive got a toshiba laptop and although my restore dvd doesnt install TOO much junk software i do prefer to install with a normal XP installation and build on top of that... so i believe your message is exactly what i do..

anyhow, input the model here

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp

and get the drivers.....

ok, laptops are very simple you just have to make sure you put all the screws back, firstly, you should clean out the heat sinks and fans, that is almost a necessity, use a compressor or some canned air to blow it out. generally you can't format the hdd from the bios, but you can do it from most os install disks in the general linear install process, don't worry about the keyboard or touch pad, generally they will be detected as standard ps/2 devices. Although i would recommend going to the laptop manufacturers website and downloading the drivers from there after installing.

d'oh beat me to it lol
