[SOLVED] Reformatting a new MY PASSPORT Drive on a Mac

My mac wont let me reformat a new My Passport WD disc drive. Each time it comes up as failed.

What steps are you taking to reformat the drive? Anymore info?

In disk utility select the drive and not the partition and click on erase.
