Hello I wanted to the ask the community a question, I'm looking to get a new gaming monitor or TV which I use as my main monitor and wanted to know if going from 60hz to a 120 or 144hz monitor or TV would case some FPS lose or would be it noticeable Im Currently using a 40inch 60hz TV at 1080p as my main and a 19inch 75hz samsung monitor as my 2nd Gcard is a GTX 970 thanks in advance :)

Solution
No it won't cause fps drops , but you must reach 120 or 144 fps in games, to take full advantage of your refresh rate.

Lol no! Playing on a TV or Monitor that has 60Hz Refresh rate or above will not cause you to lose FPS and if your PC can play games above 60FPS then maybe you'll be able to see above 60FPS (IF you got superman eyes that is.)

Ah ok, I was just worried by going with a monitor or TV with a higher refresh rate it would stress the gcard more I dont have it overclocked as of yet but plan to do so

60 Hz = 60 FPS maximum.
120 Hz = 120 FPS maximum.
144 Hz = 144 FPS maximum.

Now the math... I am assuming you will be using 1920x1080 resolution.

60 Hz @ 1920 x 1080 resolution = 124,416,000 pixels per second
120 Hz @ 1920 x 1080 resolution = 248,832,000 pixels per second
144 Hz @ 1920 x 1080 resolution = 298,598,400 pixels per second

Obviously, 120 Hz is double the work for a GPU than 60 Hz is.
144 Hz is 240% of the work for a GPU that 60 Hz is.
