I have a philips 107s 17" monitor.
The maximum refresh rate for it is 60Hz at 1280x1024.
But if i untick the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" under the display setting, i can go to higher refresh rate.

Will the monitor get burn or something if i choose higher refresh rate than the allowed refresh rate ?

Is it possible to do that without damaging the monitor?

It has it's driver when i bought it.
Should i use the driver or leave it as "Plug and Play Monitor" ?

Please help guy's, i want a good display with higher refresh rate..
Thanks...

If you love something set it free, if it doesn't come back, hunt it down and kill it !!!

Avoid going beyond the maximum refresh rate of your monitor. I have done this to mine, and the monitor gone nuts and restarted my system to return to normal.

You CAN damage your monitor by forcing it to run at a resolution / refresh rate it was not meant to work at. It's always nice to use the actual drivers for your hardware instead of generic ones included in windows such as Plug & Play Monitor. Lastly, for a 17" monitor 1024x768 is usually the sweet spot. Run it at that res. @ 85Hz and you can't go wrong! 😉

screw that..
I say, if the you go to a higher refresh rate, and it looks ok, that means the monitor can handle it.
