Hello, I recently upgraded my PC and now need to upgrade my monitor.. I am a "hardcore" gamer but I also edit videos, and watch movies on my PC.. my budget is £300 and I have found 2 monitors, one has a 240 hz refresh rate but is 1080p, and the other has a 144hz refresh rate but is 1440p, does anybody have any ideas? thanks!

Im looking at monitors atm and I had the dell you linked in my basket already.. I came on here to look for alternatives but I don't like the curved screens. It is an TN screen though but people have tweaked the settings and been happy and It is also the cheapest of the three. Would be interested to know if anyone else had any suggestions. Want 2k and at least 144hz sorry to hijack your post haha.

Edit* Just found this one on Ebuyer https://www.ebuyer.com/838555-eg-27-gaming-monitor-qhd-144hz-1ms-with-amd-freesync-gs27-v2

very cheap and good specs. £219 for 2k and 144hz. I bought it was 195 for me in channel islands but they charge me 12:50 postage.... You can buy it through amazon but will cost £7 more.
The 1440p monitor you chose has 4ms response time, which means the pixels will refresh every 4ms - you might notice a little ghosting effect but nothing too serious. The 1080p one has 1ms refresh time so shouldn't ghost. The 1080p option also has a higher brightness, about 400 nits, so it should have better looking visuals if it's sRGB profile is 99%.

I'd personally go with the alienware since it seems to have many benefits not only for gaming but phot editing too, the only thing it lacks is resolution, I wish it was 1440p, but it should still be adequate for pro gaming.

Okay.. I have found some more monitors with better response times: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Non-Glar...789011,p_36:-41000&rnid=386442011&s=pc&sr=1-8 https://www.amazon.com/Dell-27-Inch...789011,p_36:-41000&rnid=386442011&s=pc&sr=1-6 https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Non-Glar...789011,p_36:-41000&rnid=386442011&s=pc&sr=1-2

The MSI options are the best in my opinion, personally I would get the 32" just because it's the same as the 27", just bigger. It's not an IPS which would give you color perfection but people are saying the color isn't washed out enough to really notice. You also get the 2k reslution and 144Hz. For under 400$. It's not a bad deal really.

Yeah I bought one too its pretty much spot on, great picture and no dead pixels or anything. when I connected my other laptop via HDMI it automatically changed from Display Port channel for my PC that was off which is a cool feature. Just the stand is pretty fixes the screen in one position except for being able to move left and right if your on an uneven surface. Did you get on Ebuyer or Amazon? I've bought off both quite a bit but never had to send anything back from Ebuyer so not sure what they're policy is for returns lol.

Hope you like it as much as I did :)
