Hi guys..when i was finding for a graphic card i found a graphic card that im attracted to..It is Sapphire R9 280..But when i see the box,its not the good looking purple with robot box but a black almost plain-looking with some brand names or something..so i asked him why is it like that and he answered its a refurbished gpu..it has 1 year warranty...my question is..
.What exactly is refurbished Graphic card
2.Should i get that refurbished gpu?is it safe?or should i get a normal Sapphire R9 270 instead which is less performance and less good looking card(i dont really care about the looks actually)

Solution
refurbished cards are slightly used cards that have failed and been returned to the manufacturer. the manufacturer/refurbisher, test the card and identifies the fault. then they fix the fault be it a bad fan, capacitor, bad ram chip what have you. once the fault is repaired they test it and make sure it performs as well as a new card, and is resold at a discount with a warranty no less.

I purchased a refurbished GT 440 card and when I got it had a different cooler than the card shipped with, but the card performed and still performs in my brothers computer 6 years later.

so is it safe to get one?im really worried if the card doesnt performs well

How much does the card cost?

I clicked wrong lol..the card cost 5$ more than the r9 270

How much do both cards cost?
Also, why did I get best solution?I haven't given an anwser yet. Thanks anyway though 😉

I accidentally click on it instead of replying..now i need to open new threads again to get info from more people..
R9 270 - 140USD
R9 280(Refurbished) - 150USD
I dont care spending 10 dollars more if the refurbished item is safe..

The r9 280 refurbished is a good deal.
The gtx 950 has slightly less performance compared to an r9 280, but it's new, which is nice and takes up little power and space which is also nice. It's also 10$ cheaper, which I know isn't a decision maker, as you said, but it's worth mentioning.
The Gtx 960 will just about match the R9 280, and is new, but is quite a bit more expensive.
The R9 280x will have quite a bit more performance than the R9 280, and is new, but draws a lot of power and costs 40$ more.

If your PSU can handle it, I would go with the XFX R9 280x. For 50$ you get a better performing card than the R9 280 that is also new and has a lifetime warranty.

I dont buy from newegg because it doesnt ship to Malaysia..the website i trust here, the 950 cost 50usd more than a r9 270..in malaysia it is 230 our money and that is so much of an increase from my budget..same goes to r9 280x and gtx 960..well then ill go for R9 270 🙁..Should i get the powercolor OC version or sapphire OC version..sapphire cost 25usd more than the powercolor one..

Can I have a link to both 270s and to the refurbished 280?

I'd go with the R9 280. It's a very good card for the price. As for the r7 270, I wouldn't buy it for that price. It's all up to you though, what do you value more, a card being new or a card being powerful?

Solution

Thanks dude you helped me alot..thats why i was a little dissapointed if i had to go with the r9 270 because the price is super close..i would rather go for a better card...I hope they ship a good card to me tho..thanks again :)..
