Refurbished/used in 2022

Hello guys, was wondering about a laptop (never used one before) and not sure if i should go the refurbished/used route.

I have a xps 9560 i7/16gb/1050 4gb/4k screen that i can buy for 400 euros right now. i totally like that screen. i mean its super good but the only thing that crosses my mind is the age. manufactured in 2017 now its nearly 5 years old.

Should i just drop it and get a new laptop close to 1100 euro budget or just get the dell. I will mostly use it for streaming, web browsing and some mix stuffed plus some gaming (csgo/ Witcher 3 only)
i know its nowhere near powerful enough to play 4k resolution (will drop it to 1080p) but seems like a good choice

thank you

"Refurbished".

That's quite a word.

Meaning is open to wide interpretation.

Refurbished by Leroy, your next door neighbor?

Refurbished by a competent and honest refurbisher?

Refurbished by removing the dust?

I meant refurbished from amazon or any other seller. The one listed above is used and its like new(no scuffs or any sign). tested it for one day and it has no problems at all.The owner took a great care of it. It had bios 1.18 hence it was undervolted and thermal padds added. Temps were like 30-68C while gaming and the CPU max temp on a stress test raised to 74C.

You personally tested it?

Or the refurbisher?

Were any parts replaced during the refurbishing? Just thermal pads?

Are you relying completely on what the refurbisher says?

What are your return privileges if you are not satisfied?

There's always a risk when buying used, particularly if you are doing it over the Internet, not in person.

That would apply to a "refurbished" refrigerator as well as a PC.

I guess it depends on price. You have to take a leap of faith. It's one thing to risk 50 dollars and another to risk 500.

Your call, depending on whatever level of trust you are willing to grant the seller.

I know the seller and he is selling cuz he needs cash. Also i trust myself enough. I need to know if the laptop is worth buying for that price. hardware related it will be my gamble.

Also i forgot i need to buy a new battery

So, this is far less "refurbished" by a authorized service center, and actually has been opened and operational parameters changed by "your guy that you know".

To be fair, $400 seems a decent price for such a laptop. I would weigh that against having no inferred warranty and your confidence in "your guy that you know" and go from there.

Maybe you missread. I am the guy that checked the laptop. I trust myself since its been a long time with computers and im fairly skilled.

I just want to know if its worth for 400€ + ~60€ battery ?
