Regarding Access Point Routers

My friend still needs help (networking isn't really my strong suit... Computer hardware are more my strong suit.), and he is wondering if any router will work as a access point or the router needs to have a WPS button for it to be able to be used as a access point.

As extra information, his ISP is CenturyLink.

Any router can be an access point. Some are easy to toggle -- they have a button in the firmware to toggle mode. Others you have to manually do it by disabling the DHCP server. Here is the sticky HOW TO -- http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/36406-43-convert-wireless-router-wireless-access-point
