Hello all,
My question is not about whether BitLocker is safe, secure, or reliable. What I want to ask is:
Can using BitLocker—specifically for a single drive—cause harm to that drive over a long period of time?
To clarify, I mean: If continually decrypts and transfers data to the encrypted drive, could that cause damage to the partition or drive itself?
Should the drive's SMART data be reviewed before enabling BitLocker, or is that unrelated when assessing potential risks? My HDD is somewhat old, and I don’t want to put additional stress on it or accelerate any possible damage by enabling this feature.
I have several drives but I want to enable BitLockert just on one of them.
