Build Advice Regarding the recent news about failure rates of 13th and 14th Gen CPUs ?

Hello ya'll, I recently decided on making myself a PC finally and went with the i5-13600KF CPU.
I don't really game a lot and only really play GTA V from time to time, I moreso want to use this PC as a workstation for programming and stuff. Thought for this purpose going with an intel CPU might be more beneficial and the price of the 13600kf is very within my budget from local companies in Bulgaria.

Recently though I saw news came from Wendel and GN that the 13th/14th 900 and 700 processors and have been struggling. I've heard people saying to stay away from 13th/14th as a whole because of it. I'm not gonna pretend to have deep dived enough about this topic to know anything, so I've come here to ask ya'll if buying a 13th gen processor now is a good idea and if there is anything important about the situation to know. And if it's recommended to not touch intel processors with a 10 foot pole right now, what should I do? Should I switch to something like a 7600x and somehow find a way to fit a DDR5 board and ram into my budget? Should I go AM4 and would there be any meaningful performance losses in doing so?

As for usecase, i'll state in a bit more detail: Currently I'm doing web development in some not-so light ReactJS applications written with Typescript. I plan to maybe engage in some modelling in Blender after I build this pc, but not for any professional reasons, more just for the fun. This is all very volatile and likely to change with time though so, worth a mention. As for gaming, as I said the only game thats more demanding that I play is GTA V on a 1080p 166hz monitor.

I'll list the specs of the planned build I was going with here incase they provide any important additional info. As for budget, its roughly 2400BGN (1340USD, 1225 EUR). Don't really wanna go above that.

i5-13600kf
DEEPCOOL AG620 CPU cooler
2x16GB DDR4-3600 Kingston Fury Renegade Black (Cheapest cl16 ram available where I'm at.)
MSI B760 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4
ASUS dual 6750xt oc
1 TB XS70 SSD
Corsair RM650 PSU
Zalman N4 ATX case

Thanks in advance!

I've had one customer come in with a weird issues with a 13700k that I couldn't figure out even after an RMA with the board manufacture with MSI and a replacement CPU, I didn't build the system, but I ended up buying his components and selling him an AMD equivalent, I suspect it has something to do with whats going on, I get that out of vram error on some titles with a 3080ti and just out right crashes on other non system heavy loads, and it can be days before it crashes again.

I've had a 13900k system I built for someone and have not had issues with it, well had an issue with a defective Lian Li AIO but that was it, and it was on an MSI MPG Z790 with a 4090.

So its a hit or miss really, but I think it really only applies to the 13900k's and 14900k's, the rest of the sku's I assume is not really affected by this issue, such as you 13600kf, that CPU should be absolutely fine.

If you are still worried, I would go for a 12700k, so close in performance, I wouldn't pay more for it though, they should go for nearly the same price.

Good Luck!

Thank you for the input!

Heard some people say it's a problem with the K models and higher clock speeds, and since the i5s aren't as powerful as the i7s and i9s that's why we havent seen the same magnitude of issues. As to how true that is and if the 13600k will have any sort of problems, who knows lol. It could just be panic untill everything is resolved, after all only the i7s and i9s have had issues.

I was just in the process of part picking a 12700kf build as I saw your reply haha. Checked around with retailers prices here and it is cheaper than a 13600kf. Figured it's a no brainer as this CPU will do me just fine and I don't have to keep myself up at night wondering if my CPU will just give up on me one day :p. Will probably pair the 12700kf with something like a DeepCool AS500 and just rest easy, I doubt there'll be any meaningful performance loss to going with a i7 12th.

Have a great day, and hope business is doing well!
