Regarding Windows server 2003 std sp2

Hi all, i have a server 2003 std sp2 server link up to my existing workstations by ex IT guy, he left but providing details of the server administrator login and users login.

One of the workstation break down so we got another one to replace it, after joining the domain using the same username and password, all share drives can access but i realized that i can't install or uninstall software on this pc, may i know what could be the problem?

Its a windows 7 pro machine.

How is the software installed on the other machines?

Just a wild guess here, but it may be that the new machine needs to be added to a Group in your Windows domain.

Hi, i have no problem if log in as local account, only when i log in to server domain then i having this problem

Yeah. Sounds like some sort of group policy that is preventing the installation of software.

Yes i think so too, but the same username and password don't have this problem in the old machine.

There are many types of groups. It could be that the machine needs to be added to the group, not the user name.

Edit: Are you using SCCM (SMS)?

Without access to your network, that's impossible for me to say. I have no idea how your network is configured. You will need to review what policies are in place to determine if this is the case. I can't do that for you.

Is that domain account a member of the local Admin group or Domain Admins on the domain side? If not, there's your problem.
