Regedit.exe will not launch

I needed to change something in the registry but when I typed "regedit" into run nothing would happen. I tried every "fix" I could find but none worked, I even copied the .exe from another computer but it still wouldn't launch. As this is a fairly important component of the OS I am slightly worried to say the least.

Help is greatly appreciated.

1. What was the last thing you did before this started happening?

2. What is it you need to change in the Reg?

You also need to have permissions to edit the registry. Is this your personal computer or a work PC?

You must have administrative rights to access regedit or cause by virus. Try to follow this procedure to enable it http://www.tweakandtrick.com/2011/04/enable-regedit-registry-editor.html

1. I think I might've installed a few viruses trying to get GTA V for free, I guess that's what I get :lol:
I thought I got rid of all of them but they might've had lasting effects or something.

2. I was going to use it to change the language on a game.

You are the 5th person I've come across in the last couple of days with exactly that same cause and effect.
Pirated GTA V, and it hoses up your Registry.
You're trying to change the game language from CN to English, right?

I do not know of a fix, only a prevention. And that is to not download and install a pirated game.

In any case, help for this is not available here. Pirated software is a no-no.
Maybe wipe and reinstall your system.
