Regedit will not open

Hello,
I am running windows xp on my dell inspiron mini and it has the xp antispyware virus yet I can not find the av.exe file and regedit will not open? Any hunts to help me out?

Boot to Safe Mode with Networking. Download Malwarebytes, run the Full Scan.
