Registry clearing for a game

Hello,

My friend and I both have Splinter Cell Chaos theory. We did a big mess up. When putting in the key code for online play his code wouldn't work so i gave him mine to try. Mine worked but now i guess cuz we have the same code entered we can't play together. It won't let me try and enter his product key code so we can straighten this mess out. Since i am a tad bit better at computers im just going to let him keep my keycode and ill put his in mine and try to make it work.

I think there is a way to clear some kinda of registry thing to make the game not recognize my computer. Mind you i have STEAM but thats not where the product key is giving me trouble its within the game trying to go online.

Can anyone help me fix it so i can reset the product key online and we both can play together

I got windows 7 and if you can go step by step cuz im not that familiar with registry and windows 7

the key is attached to your steam account so you have just basically given your game away. its likely he now has 2 keys for the game... you need to contact steam and see if they will transfer the key over to your account , although i dont think they will.
you can tell them you entered yours by mistake as his didnt work but my guess is they will say tough luck.

Even though the online version asked for the key again? I guess those are the downfalls of having STEAM accounts. double sad face.

His STEAM has already registered his key to his steam. My STEAM has my key tied to my STEAM. so we both can play on our own accounts. Its when we had to re-enter our product keys to co-op online it the game itself asked us to enter a key to activate and thats when i gave him mine.

It wanted us to create an account. i figured it would tie to my registry but your porbably right i tied to my STEAM registry. Its kewl we both can play online at the same but we just can't play togetheri in the same room now on co-op lol.
