registry editor has stopped working

Hey everyone,
This is on one of my computers running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. It's only started happening recently (past 2 days), whenever I try to open any regestry file or use regedit.exe i got error message registry editor has stopped working
what should i do ? please i need your help
