SO... my friend's desktop is messed up. The computer can't read an audio device.. he has onboard sound. He had Realtek acl533 or something SIMILAR. The device manager has no errors. How can i reinstall the sound to work...?

did you go into device manager and uninstall the driver?
if not do that, then wait for a second and it should try to reinstall its self.

also look to see if there are any new drivers for it.

yes tehre were seven things, of which i was able to uninstall two. i then rebooted and it did a search for a sound device on the computer and just installed the same two that i just uninstalled.... still no sound. it went trhough the whole New Hardware found stuff. installling the driver from realtek doesnt turn it on but it puts a program to uninstall in add/remove progs. i dont get it
