I have downloaded Windows 10 onto a USB using the Media Creation Tool. My PC frequently crashes, would it be worth reinstalling Windows 10? Maybe it would speed up my ancient AMD Athalon x3 from 2012.

If the current OS is ;corrupted', then yes a fresh install might fix things.
But first, you need to determine the reason for these frequent crashes.
