I have Sony Vaio laptop PCG-7D2L. Its OS has become faulty and on advice of someone I formatted by attaching to desktop as usb but I am not able to reinstall OS . Its BIOS does not support for usb boot and optical drive is already faulty. I seek help in this regard from all members.

To install an OS, those are your two options.
What is faulty with the optical drive?

However...this is a 10 year old laptop. How much time, effort, and money do you want to expend on this?
MERGED QUESTION
Question from krishnakumar124 : "Reinstallation of operating system"

1. Get your XP cd/dvd disc
2. Start Pc, and usually its F2 key to get into bios, and set bios to boot from cd/dvd drive first.
3. When the pc boots up the XP disc, it will ask to "press any key to boot from cd dvd, just press space bar or something.
4. Choose to install a fresh copy of windows, and it will ask you to accept agreement just press F8, although you will see the prompt at the bottom so no worries.
5. Choose the hard drive you want to format and choose full format if possible.
6. Now let windows do its thing, and NOTE when it reboots it will ask again "press any key to boot from cd dvd, but this time DONT press any key just let it move along and now windows xp will slowly be installed.

Thanks for prompt reply. But this will not solve my problem due to following facts which I have already mentioned. This is not so easy problem.
1. ITS OPTICAL DRIVE IS FAULTY.
2. ITS BIOS DO NOT SUPPORT FOR USB BOOT.

Did I read my reply? Well yes...I did. I wrote it.

For the optical drive, either discover what is wrong with it and fix it, or replace it.
Bad laser, dirty laser, loose bearings, bad motor, bad connection, bad motherboard port....Or possibly other things.
