Reinstalling windows 7

HI,

I need to re install windows 7 after a virus. How would I go about backing up my installed programs as well as windows settings? re installing then adding everything back?

First, insure that you have eliminated the virus, then backup all your data to a USB drive or whatever (and be sure to safe eject the drive so it does not get corrupted). You cannot backup the installed programs, you need to reinstall them from the installer disks or downloads.
