Hi, I'm currently reinstalling windows 8 to see if that can fix an issue I am having with some games. Should I install the drivers that are on the motherboard support disk before I install updates and upgrade to windows 8.1 or after I update to windows 8.1 or does it even matter? And are the drivers on the disk okay or should I get the ones from the ASUS website? Thanks

If you do new reinstall to Windows 8.. i would then install the motherboard drivers right after that. Then after that is done, perform the upgrade to Windows 8.1.

When that is completed... and if you have a second hard drive. I would create an image backup at this time... BEFORE doing any more updates.. so you'll have a clean new Image Backup.. so if you have any problems... you could go back to this point.

After that... do all your regular updates and install any programs you want. Once all that is completed... do another image backup... so you'll have a version with all the updates.. that's CLEAN... then save those those backups... and proceed and have fun.

You should just go straight to the internet and get the latest drivers. don't bother with the manufacturer's disk. I would personally get 8.1 first before installing drivers but it shouldn't matter either way.

FYI, you can get a free copy of Windows 10 still, if you get the latest install image (1511) you can install it directly using your windows 8 key.

However, if there are utilities from the manufacture that you like to install.. it's possible they're not available on the website... mostly to stop customers using different models from grabbing it... But you can can check for updated drivers... but it's possible not all the programs would be available on the website.

Yeah I just tried the ones from the website and it makes my computer boot oddly so I'm just going to use the ones on the disk, but if I install the drivers before the 8.1 update do I have to reinstall the drivers after the update or do I just leave then?
and I have windows 10 on my laptop but I had issues with it on my desktop but I might try again soon. 😛

the disk seems to have everything I want and so does the website but the updated ones on the ASUS site behave oddly so the disk is ok.
