[SOLVED] Reinstalling windows on HDD

I am changing the motherboard on my laptop and need to do a fresh reinstall of Windows 10 but i've got some questions.

Can I use a HDD enclosure and connect the hard drive to my mac to recover some of the data?

Do I need to reformat the hard drive or can I do that using the windows laptop while installing windows 10 from a usb?

Are you replacing the motherboard in the laptop with an identical unit? If so, you shouldn't need to reinstall Windows.

No it's not identical, although I'm staying in the Intel camp, going from i5 with integrated graphics to i7 and 980m Nvidia discreet graphics..
