Hi folks!

I love the Stalker game. I finished all!

I discovered a Russian movie; Stalker by Andrey Tarkovsky (1979) and... there are many similar things: the enviroment, the radiation, the abandoned factories, Marked One (Stalker - Shadow of Chernobyl) looks like the Stalker of movie, the junkyard, the Army, the "Zone", the wish etc...

I posted this question at the ukrainian Firelake band (www.firelake.in.ua - I love this band too!) forum (http://www.firelake.in.ua/forum_en/index.php?topic=46.0), to Oleg Yavorsky (Vocals, guitar an owner of the company that developed STALKER - GSC) and I´m waiting for answer...

I actually saw the movie before the first game came out, and as soon as I saw the similarities I looked it up.

Both the movie and the game series are based on (or rather, officially inspired by) the same book.

"Roadside Picnic" by Boris and Arkady Strugatsky (not sure of the spelling) - the writers of the book contributed to the screenplay for the movie.

Something particularly interesting (IMO) - The film came out before the Chernobyl incident occured.

Solution
For those in the USA, the Stalker movie is available from Netflix. Its an interesting movie, but not too much like the game. There is no shooting, Duty/Freedom, powered exoskeletons, bloodsuckers, or gauss rifles. It is a very slow paced movie with Russian subtitles and the Zone does not involve Chernobyl because like was said earlier, it was made before the disaster.
