Reliability of Bestec power supplies

Back in the days of Socket 478, the Bestec power supplies used in eMachines, HP and Compaq towers were notorious for taking down the motherboard when they failed. Has the quality of the Bestecs improved over the years? Now they are also turning in Dell mass market towers as well. TIA... Ben Myers

Bestec remains a scorned name, they will power the towers they come in, but I would not upgrade anything within them. The cases they come with are a pain to mount anything in anyways...

Thank you. I have an HP quad core LGA 775 tower here with a Bestec. You may encourage me to replace the Bestec with a better power supply. Most any are better, IMHO.
