No.

And I feel the same about paid cloud services.....

You should have multiple backups of your data in different locations.

All backups being proven to be recoverable and readable.

Wouldn't trust any cloud backup. Prefer to keep multiple backups myself, each on a separate external HDD.

You should have a local and a remote... I run a Synology 4 drive NAS in the house and back all of that up using Backblaze to the cloud... just wait until you have a lightning strike or a fire (I've had both) and you'll know why an offsite backup is necessary.

Well, that wouldn't seem to be the safest place for any data.

Neither.

Replace the defective drive, AND cloud.
