Hey all, been trying to secure a gpu for months now and I'm deciding to give it up and just go prebuild. Can anyone vouch for any specific companies? Cyberpower, abs, skytech etc etc it doesn't matter just one that is relatively decent and won't result in a doa gpu or faulty psu, thanks for your time.

Solution
Actually yes I have a microcenter 30 mins-45mins away

Depending on the timing, if you get the prebuild when GPUs are more stable in stock, if you can't build yourself, having Micro Center do it is a better idea than one of the system integrators, at least until you get to the very expensive boutique ones from places like Falcon NW or Puget.

If you do go with a prebuilt PC, try to make sure you get a quality PSU and you avoid one that isn't assembled from aftermarket parts. Steve Burke at Gamers Nexus has dissected a lot of mainstream prebuilts and the results are not pretty. You don't want the need to get a GPU to trap you in a PC that's hard to upgrade while also being poorly assembled.
Gamer's Nexus have series of all the prebuilt's during 2021 that are worth buying. I'd advise NOT to buy anything from Dell. What is your location and what sort of a budget are you looking at for spending on a prebuilt? If the system is meant for gaming, list out the titles you'd like to tax the system with. If it's other tasks, list the app's you want to tax the proposed build with.

I’m looking on eBay, found an rtx 2070 super for about 650 on there, so considering purchasing that for my current rig. Might be a consideration. I think I saw new 3060 cards for 700 on there. Those are a bit overpriced but paired up with say a ryzen 5 3600 or comparable Intel they should be decent.

I was debating on trying MC to get a gpu but it seems the cards I wanted to snag (evga ftw3s) rarely come in store and if they do its very low quantities. I actually was looking at xidax recently but they seem a bit overpriced. They wanted 1,500 for a i5 1140 and a rtx 3060. My own build would've had a 3070 and a ryzen 5 3600x for roughly around the same price maybe 100 more. Sorry to keep pestering but does xidax seem trustworthy or should I just keep looking at prebuilds?

The forum is for asking questions!

I can't speak for Xidax myself as I'm unfamiliar. They do seem to be offering reasonable aftermarket parts, however. It's at least a good sign that you can select a couple really good cases for a discount.

Generally, if you're competent enough to build on your own and stuck going into a prebuilt because of GPU supply issues, as long as they offer quality aftermarket parts, you'll be OK in the end. You won't run into proprietary parts and the other big issue, the hapless way many of these companies assemble their PCs, is easy to deal with since you can do it on your own. If you get one, before turning it on, I'd comb through all the connections and such first.

Yeah I've watched a lot of building videos from bitwit and linus I do have the confidence to sit down for a few days and build it from scratch it's just the fact securing a gpu is like snagging the holy grail lol, I'm relatively fine with overpaying a bit as long as the rig is fine, its better than settling for a cyberpower that has 99 problems. I think I'll go with xidax (the i5/3060 config) and roll with that until the shortage is over. I appreciate yours and everyone's help here much love ^^
