i have hp p6040in miniatx i think, and i want to upgrade it with maximus vi gene with core i5 4670k cpuand cooler master v550 psu.can i go ahead with update.Plz help me

So basically you want to re-use your case, optical drive and hard drive from your HP machine? It would appear the HP case is standard sized so the MB swap should be pretty straight forward. That would be your only sticking point...

HP case connectors are proprietary. Best off getting a new case. Go 4690k, MSI Z97 Gaming 5, or Asrock Z97 Extreme4.

Windows doesn't care about case. All hardware inside of your system would easily transfer to a new case. You would need a new copy of windows for the new motherboard. HP oem windows will only work with an HP motherboard.
