remote control with sb live drive question

I have sb live p 5.1 and the remote that comes with it doesn't control my dvd software very well (in fact I can only fast forward, fast rewind, and move the selection cursor with the arrows.)

is there a way to program the keys on the remote, or is there some software I can get that would make it compatible with the ati dvd player?
