I have an XP Pro system that is in the basement and
connected to my in house audio. I use remote desktop to
connect, and then use itunes to play audio. I have had
this working in the past. Recently, I see the following:
1. Log into system directly -> audio plays fine through
Creative Audigy zs card
2. Log into system via Remote Desktop Client (RDC)
config'd for "bring audio to remote" and audio streams to
remote
3. Log into system via RDC config'd for "leave audio at
remote" (btw, this is the config that i need to have
work), and while the system seems to play, I get no
audio. When I look into "sounds" in control panel, it
does not see the hardware.

Try starting the audio application on the remote PC first, then connect using Remote Desktop. This
work around to a bug in audio redirection has been reported to work for many people...
