Few days ago I found that my HDD was infected with a rootkit MBR malmo A (bootimage).
I formatted the drive and reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 10. But now that I check it again through bitdefender rootkit removal app. It is still there.
What I am thinking is if I format the drive and install Ubuntu on it. it should replace MBR with grub. Will it remove that rootkit?
It never happened with me before. This is my first time ever on a forum also. I don't understand Linux system much. But I have been reading.
As a matter of urgency I thought I should as in the community if someone can help me with this or has faced something similar.
