My 9 year old son downloaded bitlocker from the Microsoft website onto his new alien ware computer we got him for gaming. I guess he saved his password to his desktop, which of course we cannot access. From the other threads I have read I realize it will wipe his hard drive, but that is fine. At this point he can't use his computer at all, we are fine with starting over. How do we remove bitlocker/wipe his hard drive from the startup area? When I tried to enter the bitlocker key the letters on the keyboard don't work.

Solution
No one here can, or will help you removing any security for any reason. There is no way to verify you own it. Its against the ToS to even ask. Have a good day.
If you have the recovery key, you can use this info (see link) to remove:

Another source is here:

If you are okay with wiping the drive and starting over, use this link:

I would suggest not giving your son Administrator access after re-installing Windows to avoid such things in the future, just make him a standard user. If he needs help installing something, you can help hime.

Good luck!
