[SOLVED] Remove drives before installing Ubuntu

Hello all,

A couple months ago I installed Ubuntu 18.04 to be dual boot on my desktop but had some issues booting it so I reinstalled it and that screwed up the booting for Windows 10 partition. The second installation of Ubuntu boots but it is rather buggy so I plan on uninstalling it and installing Ubuntu 20.04 to see how that goes. After some struggling, I was able to get Windows 10 to boot but it won't update (I have another thread on this) but my question is can I physically remove/unplug all of my drives except the one I want to install Ubuntu on so I don't have issues again? Would installing Ubuntu without the drive with Windows 10 connected to the motherboard not allow me to dual boot easily when I reconnect the Windows 10 drive?

I know some people do that. One drive attached per OS install. Then they go into the bios and select which drive to boot from when they want to load X OS. I personally feel that's too much like work. But people do it.
