A macbook pro has died, but the HD still works / has data on it. Can I remove the HD from the macbook, and connect it to a PC somehow? I'm wondering if it's formatted differently and won't be able to connect to my PC.

Hey there, AspiringGamer.

You are right about the drive being formatted differently. It has a different file system which is not supported by Windows. It's probably HFS+ most likely. If the drive is indeed in good condition and working, you should be able to find on the web some 3rd party programs to help you recover the data. You could take a look at that article: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/4-ways-read-mac-formatted-drive-windows/ or try a different program if you've found one.
When you've recovered your data in order to use the drive with a Windows computer, you should reformat it by using either exFAT or NTFS (recommended). Those file systems are natively supported by Windows (actually exFAT is supported by both Windows and Mac...

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.
