Remove Quality Control Sticker on P4 Chip?

Jan 17, 2010
I'm upgrading my system and I bought a used 3.2GHz Pentium 4 from a seller in China. When the CPU arrived, I found that a paper quality control sticker had been placed on the underside of the chip in the square area surrounded by the pins, and actually covers some of the tiny surface-mount chips.

Is it necessary to remove the sticker before installing the CPU? I'd rather leave it alone if it doesn't matter; some stickers break into little pieces and don't come off clean.
