Question Removed HDD wont show any desktop files via USB ?

Hello,

recently, my laptop died.

Laptop technician helped me to remove HDD and SSD (HDD+SSD combo) in order to save my data. Unfortunately, if I plug HDD or SSD via USB to PC and browse them (My computer - name of my HDD - Users - User name - desktop) I cannot see any of my desktop data. Data from other folders are normally there...

First disk shows only 1 document, second one (SSD with installed windows) shows nothing even though I had dozens of files on my desktop.

What could be the issue? Is it possible that my laptop has third "invisible" disk just for desktop data? How can I solve it?

Thanks for you replies.

Well the easy one first -- no invisible drive.
Are these W10, W7, Linux, or?
If W10 did you take ownership of the drives on the new machine?
If a Windows version, then you attach one of the drives, say the HDD, what shows up in Disk Management?
