Removing a CPU and heatsink without separating them for a new build?

So I didn't expect to buy a new case today but I did. Fractal Define R5 I heard was a good quiet case and decided to get it after considering a Silent Base 600 and a Corsair Carbide 600C (hopefully I don't regret the choice). Problem is I am at my parents place for a couple weeks and my thermal paste is at home. Since I am going to have to remove everything from my old case (pray for me I have a stripped screw on one of my CPU mounting brackets) I want to remove my CPU and heatsink stuck together without having to reapply the thermal paste. Can I do it or will mounting the cpu along with the heatsink on the pins be problematic on a AM3+ socket?

If you are just swapping the case , you just need to take your motherboard out with the cooler and cpu on the board as it is .

But you can’t remove the cpu and cooler together from the motherboard , they can be removed separately only.
Good luck

The heat sink goes on after the CPU is inserted then the holder goes on the CPU then the HS. So it is impossible to remove it. If you do remove it, remember to twist it off, not pull it off directly.

Also, as someone has said, you are transferring the motherboard to a new case, so you don't need to remove anything, apart from cables. As for stripping screws, that's only done when people over tighten, which I don't understand how people do this. Doing up screws isn't complicated, when it stops, it stops...

I was actually trying to remove the heatsink brackets screwed into the motherboard before I realized I did not need to do that to unseat the cpu cooler. I ended up stripping it by trying my damnedest to unscrew it along with a power drill.

Power drill?!?!?
insane, unless you have it on setting 1. (and its a quality brand like Bosch/Makita).
No power Tools in a computer :)
