[SOLVED] Removing HDD without messing up drive letters

In my system I have 6 physical drives (3 SSD, 2 HDD, 1 USB external), and several partitions.

One of the HDD drives is faulty and I want to remove/disable it while I wait for its replacement (everything is backed up).

This HDD is the F: drive (it is not partitioned). If I remove it will all the letters of the drives that come after F: change? If yes, is there any way to prevent this from happening, as I don't want to mess up things in my system (e.g. Steam games are stored in drive G:, if the letter of this drive changes then maybe Steam will not be able to find them)

Ideally I would want the new replacement drive to be F:, but it could be a couple of days until it arrives, and I don't want to keep the faulty drive in my pc until then because it slows down my system in various occasions (e.g. when opening File Explorer)

No, removing that F drive should not resequence the others.

Thanks. Would this be the same if I just disable it in the BIOS?

And when I put the new drive in it's place, will that be F:, or I will need to manually assign it to F:?

Give it a try. Both in the BIOS and physical disconnection.

The new drive may or may not get F.
But thats easy to reassign if it does not.
