I've done some reading and found that nvidia optimus is built into my version of windows 8 on my laptop and the only way of removing optimus is to completely reisnstall my OS. I'm not completely sure how to reinstall an OS and need some instructions on how to, my laptop does have a disc drive if that helps. Also would I need to purchase another key for windows or is there like a serial I can use from my current version?

Edit: Oh and of course need some confirmation that reinstalling my OS will indeed remove optimus.
Another edit: I want to remove it or reinstall it or something because when I go to play WoW I get 30fps in a non-populated area on the lowest graphics. I'm running a 740m and i7-4700MQ

Reinstalling your OS to remove optimus is absolutely unnecessary.
If you want to use just your graphics card instead of your integrated graphics (which maybe the only reason you want to remove optimus), just go to the nvidia control panel, go to the manage 3d settings and choose Nvidia as the preferred graphics processor.
Then only your GPU will be used instead of your integrated graphics.
Alternatively, you can choose your integrated graphics as the preferred graphics processor if you want to do so.
Also, you can just uninstall the Nvidia graphics driver and all its components to remove optimus. But in doing so, you will not be able to use the Nvidia, but only the integrated graphics will be used.
Hope this helps.
